The best thing since sliced bread

This astounding knowledge in my head

For I am the best at what I do

The system would fail if not for you

I’m the biggest cog in the wheel

Which keeps it turning without a spill

They flatter and praise, all you do

Their very existence is down to you

I strut around, just like a king

I’m so important too everything

Then it ended with a “chip”

They stuck my knowledge on a “byte”

A computer took my job over night

My self-importance is no more

As the smiling boss showed me the door

My world had ended with a thump

When “chips” for brains they did dump
